EXTENDED HOURS:
First 2 weeks of each semester: Monday to Friday 9am - 7pm

Welcome to the Bookshop Blog


Welcome to our blog. We now have 2 web spaces! The differences are:

1. This blog: has the MOST RECENT information about opening hours, procedures and details of how to sell your books. Here we will post announcements and any news.

2. Our website: (www.sa.uts.edu.au/books) is where to search our current catalogue, become a member, and track your books. Please note, the list of accepted books on that site is no longer current. Please contact us directly to find out if we will accept your book.

It is the end of semester, a perfect time to sell your books! We are launching our HUGE bi-annual drive to get more books, so that, when 2nd semester comes along, we will have plenty of stock to sell, and help out many students with costly text books.

Our service is in high demand, but we desperately need your books to sell! During busy period the turnover is a matter of hours for popular books. Books must be current editions only.

Please support this valuable service by bringing in your current edition text books as soon as exams are over, and they will sell as soon as the next semester starts.

How do I sell my book?

You can sell your book in 2 ways:

1. Direct to us at up to 30% of the retail price. This way you can get cash, a direct transfer or a cheque. We only accept some books this way.

2. On consignment through us (we act as your agent). You can charge up to 66% of the retail price. We will take a 20% commission of the sale price for selling the book for you. So you will get 80% of the sale price. When the book is sold, the money is directly transferred to your preferred account.

3. Example: your book cost $100 new.

Sell Direct to bookshop: you will get up to an absolute maximum of $30.
(more likely $10-$20)

Selling on 'consignment' you get more "bucks for your book"!
On consignment: you can sell it for up to $66.
When it sells, you will receive $53, and we will receive $13.20 commission.



To see if you can sell you book in either of these ways, follow this 3 step process:

1. Check your book is a current edition, as we will not accept outdated editions. Go to http://www.coop-bookshop.com.au/bookshop and search. If it comes up but says limited edition, it is a no-go.

2. Register your details on our website by becoming a member: www.sa.uts.edu.au/books
You will have to enter your contact details, bank account details, and the book details. (You do not need to do this step if you are selling direct to us.)

3. Bring it into the Bookshop: located opposite the SA office and the food court on level 3 of the Tower building.

How do I buy a book?

You can:

1. Check out our website: www.sa.uts.edu.au/books and search the online catalogue. This is updated every time a new books arrives.

2. Come into our store: located on level 3 of the Tower building. Beware, during beginning of semester we are very hectic!
